Indian varsity to grant scholarships to 25 quake-affected students

KATHMANDU, June 21 An Indian university has decided to provide scholarships in engineering faculty to the Nepali students hit hard by the earthquake.

The Institute of Technology and Research University of Bangalore, India, will provide the scholarships to the Nepali students completing grade 12. The scholarship amounts to 10 million Indian currency.The students will be selected by the Nepal Chamber of Commerce, said Chairman Rajesh Kaji Shrestha, at a press meet today.

Chairman of the University Dr BSN Naidu said the assistance to Nepal was aimed at producing technical resources in view of the devastation caused by the earthquake.

He further said the University has aimed at producing such human resources that would help construct earthquake-resilient buildings. RSS
