Indian national arrested for attempting to bribe police to allow smuggled goods

DHANGADHI, May 24:  An Indian national who attempted to bribe the police by asking them to pass goods brought by evading customs has been arrested in Kailali.

DHANGADHI, May 24:  An Indian national who attempted to bribe the police by asking them to pass goods brought by evading customs has been arrested in Kailali.


According to the police, Sudhir Gupta, 50, of Paliya, India, was arrested on Wednesday morning near Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City-2. He was trying to bribe police by asking him to pass goods worth Rs 8,000 smuggled from India.

According to the Spokesperson at the District Police Office, Kailali, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kuldeep Chand, Gupta asked the police to take Rs 500 and let go of the goods on Wednesday morning. 


Police recovered sweets, betel nuts, tea leaves, milk powder and others from Gupta. According to police, arrested Gupta and the recovered goods have been handed over to the Kailali Customs Office for necessary action.
