Indian, Chinese envoys call on foreign minister Thapa

KATHMANDU, Oct 15: Indian ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae and Chinese ambassador Wu Chuntai paid courtesy calls on the newly-appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Kamal Thapa on Wednesday.

Indian ambassador Rae reached the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and met the newly-elected minister Thapa at his office in Singha Durbar.


During the meeting, Thapa urged Indian ambassador Rae to take initiatives to remove the blockade along Nepal-India border points and ease supply of petroleum products and other essential goods, said Mohan Shrestha, an aide to Minster Thapa, quoting the minister.

Shrestha said that Minister Thapa assured Indian ambassador that he would work to strengthen Nepal-India relations.

After Rae, Chinese ambassador Wu met with Minister Thapa. They also discussed further strengthening Nepal-China relations and trade.
