KATHMANDU, April 16: The Government of India has gifted 35 vehicles to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).

Indian Ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae handed over the keys of the vehicles to CIAA Chief Lokman Singh Karki at CIAA Office on Thursday. The vehicles include 15 jeeps, 15 pick-up vans and five cars.

Speaking at the program, CIAA Chief Karki thanked the Government of India for the support and appreciated Rae's individual role to this effect.

Karki said the bilateral relations between Nepal and India date back to time immemorial and are marked by goodwill, cordiality and mutual understanding. The bilateral relations are not only based on proximity but also on socio-cultural and economic interdependency, he said.

"I take this forum to extend our relation in the field of corruption control, to fortify and strengthen our mutual efforts in promoting and maintaining good governance in our respective countries and to fight against corruption and improper conduct," CIAA Chief Karki added.

Similarly, Indian Ambassador Rae said the latest efforts made by Nepal at corruption control were laudable and India would provide possible support in this regard. Rae also praised the CIAA's efforts under Karki's leadership in corruption control and said his government believed in transparency and a corruption-free rule.

The Indian ambassador expressed commitment for the additional supports in the days ahead. RSS
