Singh during the 45-minute meeting with Dahal laid an emphasis on early CA elections in Nepal. The Indian PM also congratulated Dahal upon the successful completion of the peace process, especially the integration of the former Maoist combatants into the Nepal Army.
After the meeting, Dahal told Republica that Singh has assured all possible assistance for upcoming CA elections and economic development in Nepal.
The two leaders also discussed India’s security concerns, with Dahal telling PM Singh that Nepal’s economic prosperity is closely linked to India’s security interests.
However, they did not discuss the trilateral economic cooperation framework between India, China and Nepal, which came foremost on Dahal’s agenda.
Dahal has proposed to Singh that it would be practical for India and China to work closely in Lumbini development project and also in mega hydro-power projects in Nepal.
Dahal also held a lunch meeting with Indian Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid today. He is set to return to Kathmandu at 3.50 pm via a Spice Jet flight.
