KATHMANDU, Jan 29: A tripartite agreement has been signed between the Micro, Cottage and Small Industries Promotion Center, Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and six industries for conducting workplace-based employment training programs.
Litmus Industries, Arihant Multi Fibres Limited, Kiran Shoes Manufacturers, Baba Jute Mills, Modern Slipper Industries and Run Shoes Industries have signed the agreement.

According to the agreement, these industries will select 1,665 trainee workers and train them and provide employment for at least 18 months. The center will bear the maximum three months wages of the trainee workers on behalf of the government.
During a ceremony on Sunday, Executive Officer of the center Deepak Ghimire, Director General of the CNI Deepak Raj Joshi and representatives of related industries signed the agreement. The Center is a body under the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies.
Industry, Commerce and Supplies Minister Ramesh Rijal, Industry Secretary Mukund Prasad Niraula, CNI President Rajesh Kumar Agarwal and various industrialists were present in the program.
Minister Rijal expressed his belief that this agreement will help increase employment opportunities as well as increase the productivity of the industry.
Agarwal, president of the CNI, said that other industries are also interested in such agreements. Nine industries applied for 2,100 trainees through the CNI. “However, due to the curriculum and other challenges, tripartite agreements could only be signed with six industries. Although other industries were willing to participate,” he said, "It is necessary to make this program more effective in the coming days."
