Independent candidate Kalwar who won election from Bara joins JSP

JANAKPURDHAM, Feb 5: Sharada Shankar Kalwar, an independent member of the Madhesh Province Assembly, has joined the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP).


Kalwar, who was elected from Bara 2 (A) as an independent candidate in the last election, was welcomed into the party by Finance Minister of Madhesh Province Sanjay Kumar Yadav and JSP’s Biratnagar Metropolitan City Mayor Amarendra Yadav on Sunday.

He was elected from the then Federal Socialist Forum Nepal in the 2017 election. But in the last election, Kalwar was not given a ticket due to the electoral coordination between UML and JSP, and he ran as an independent candidate.


He won from Bara 2 (A) with 9,295 votes, defeating the common candidate of JSP and UML, Balbir Bhujel.


Earlier, two independent MPs joined JSP. Surita Sah, an independent MP who won the election from Mahottari 2 (B) and Pramod Kumar Jaiswal from Parsa Constituency No. 3 (A) joined JSP.


Surita has been made Social Development Minister by JSP. With this, the number of JSP members of the provincial assembly of Madhesh Province has reached 19.
