KHOTANG, April 17: While the new academic session has already begun across the country, textbooks in English language are yet to be supplied in schools of Khotang.
“Mathematics and science textbooks in English medium are yet to be printed,” Panchkumar Rai, education committee coordinator of Rupakot Majhuwagadi municipality said adding that “the delay was affecting school students studying in English medium.”
Rai further added that low printing capacity of Janak Education Material Center was leading the delay. While the government had promised each student with complete set of textbooks at the start of new academic session, this is unlikely the case.
“Books in Nepali medium are easily accessible. However, those in English are being delayed due to translation,” Dhan Bahadur Shrestha, District Education Officer said.
According to District Education Office, there are 25 schools that teach in English medium. The number of children studying in English medium has been steadily increasing.
