Inauguration of Ram Temple in Ayodhya today

KATHMANDU, Jan 22: The newly-constructed Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, India is set to be inaugurated today. 


A grand ceremony is underway at Lord Ram's temple for the Pran Pratishtha/consecration ceremony where hymns and mantra are recited to invite deity.


The Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Lord Ram will be held at the temple  in the presence of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to the BBC, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has said that all the preparations for Pran Pratishtha have been completed. The program is scheduled to start today at 12:45PM (1PM IST) and will continue till 1:15 PM. 


Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will participate in the Pran Pratishtha. Then the temple will be opened for Darshan (worship) for pilgrims.


The Trust said the idol of Lord Ram will be bathed 114 times with holy water brought from separate shrines.


The Prana Pratishtha ceremony started on January 16 and will end today in auspicious time.


Ayodhya is witnessing the arrival of invited guests to participate in the Pran Pratishtha ceremony, including Indian sports personalities, Bollywood actors and actresses, political leaders, and saints.


Security has been tightened for the Pran Pratishtha program in Ayodhya. 10,000 CCTV cameras, drones with artificial intelligence are equipped for monitoring the activities there. Additionally, 11,000 police and armed personnel have been mobilized in Ayodhya, where seven security zones have been established.
