The meeting, held on Monday, said the committee will be formed under the coordination of the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA). The other seven members will include the vice chairman of the National Planning Commission; secretaries at MoCTCA, the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Law; the chief of IBN, the director general of the Civil
Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), and the joint secretary of IBN.
There was confusion over whether MoCTCA, CAAN or IBN should be responsible for the construction of the SIA. With the formation of the committee, the confusion has been cleared and the project will move forward.
The meeting also decided to sign an agreement with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to carry out a detail study on how to move both the TIA upgradation project and the SIA construction project forward. IFC will also suggest the models for the construction of the SIA.
IBN says the committee will take decisions regarding both the projects based on the study report provided by IFC.
