DANG, Dec 10: Nepali Congress senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba on Saturday claimed that he will lead the soon-to-be-formed national consensus government.

Deuba´s statement came after Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala on Friday said that Vice-President Ram Chandra Paudel will lead the consensus government as per the party´s statue. [break]

Speaking at a press conference organized by Press Union in Dang, Deuba said, “I will lead the national consensus government. There is no doubt about this.”

He said that the central committee of the party had already decided to recommend his name for prime minister of the next government.

“The party central committee has said I will be the prime minister,” he said, adding, “I don´t have anything to say if anyone has been recommended for the post.”

Deuba also criticized President Koirala´s statement saying it was against the central committee´s decision. He claimed that a consensus government under his leadership will be able to conclude the peace process and promulgate the new constitution.
