KATHMANDU, Dec 13: Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that he needs to be in the party leadership to sustain the current government and ensure victory of the party in the upcoming elections.
Deuba, who is also contesting for the post of president at the 14th General Convention, claimed in a program organized in Kathmandu on Sunday that if elected, the current NC-led government would last and the party would also get a majority in the upcoming election.
The allure of an international degree
Deuba said that the NC should get a majority in the upcoming election to prevent the recurrence of autocratic tendencies in the state. He said, "I will form a Nepali Congress government with a majority at the center after winning the post of president."
“This is my commitment,” Deuba said while pointing out the need to be the president of the NC again. He said, "If I lose the presidency, they can remove me from the post of prime minister. What will happen if I am removed from the post? You saw what happened last time.”
