Hydro, forest and peace process: PM's priorities in Europe

KATHMANDU, March 28: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal said he will discuss hydroelectricity in Norway and forest-related issues in Finland during his weeklong visit to the Nordic countries.



Prior to leaving for Norway on Saturday, PM Dahal told journalists that the focus of his talks in Norway will also be health education, besides seeking Norway´s support in generating electricity in Nepal. The PM is scheduled to return home on April 4.

Hira Bahadur Thapa, foreign affairs advisor to the Prime Minister, said the focus of the visit will be on courting European support in peace process and generating electricity.


The PM´s entourage includes his wife, Sita, officials at the Office of the Prime Minister and Foreign Ministry, a business delegation (including president of Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industries Kush Kumar Joshi and president of Non-resident Nepalis Upendra Mahato), among others.


In absence of the Prime Minister, President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav has assigned Deputy Prime Minister Bam Dev Gautam to look after the PM´s jobs until his return to home.
