A meeting of the committee directed the ministers and secretaries to furnish details in writing about the update and implementation status of the committee´s previous directives. [break]
Earlier, the committee had directed the MoLD to correct the wrong activities taking place in the ministry like running the local bodies by locally appointed employees in the absence of any authorized officer.
"It is found in several districts including in Dailekh that authorized employees like Local Development Officer, Planning Officer and Engineers are all transferred at once and on top of that the bodies are run by locally appointed employees. This is against the spirit of the law. Therefore, the committee directs the ministry to immediately correct such activities," the committee´s decision said.
The committee also directed the ministry to send civil servants to DDCs, municipalities and VDCs.
"Lack of authorized officers in such bodies seriously hampers in governance as DDCs, municipalities and VDCs are important bodies for development activities and day to day service delivery," committee secretary Himlal Subedi said.
The local bodies have remained without elected representatives for many years.
