House approves two bills

KATHMANDU, April 19: The Parliament on Sunday passed Domestic Violence (Crime and Punishment) Bill and a Bill on Security of Health Workers and Health Institutions. [break]



The Domestic Violence (Crime and Punishment) Bill brings all the discriminatory actions including tortures against women at their homes under the definition of crime.



The Security of Health Workers and Health Institutions Bill guarantees security of medical professionals as well as nursing homes and hospitals. The Bill was pledged by the government following series of attacks on the doctors and nursing homes by relatives of patients who blame the doctors’ negligence for death of their kin.



In Sunday’s meeting, the government tabled Constitutional Council (Functions, Duties, Rights and Procedures) Bill, Business Transaction of House and Land Bill, Kathmandu Valley Urban Development Bill, Telecommunications (First Amendment) Bill and Special Economic Zone Bill.
