KATHMANDU, Nov 20: Amar Man Shakya, the immediate past president of the Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN), has passed away. HAN said he died of COVID-19 complications.
According to the HAN, Shakya, who owns the Kathmandu-based Amar Hotel, breathed his last Friday morning at the age of 72 while undergoing treatment at Om Hospital in Chabahil.

Though he contracted COVID-19 before the Dashain festival, he was having treatment at the hospital due to pneumonia and other complications, according to a HAN source.
Issuing a statement, HAN said that the hospitality sector has lost an active campaigner for the development of the hotel industry and tourism sector of the country.
According to HAN, he made an important contribution to establish cordial and healthy relations between hotel laborers and employers. Shakya is survived by his wife and two sons.
