HoR approves proposal to amend Public Security Bill 2075

KATHMANDU, May 18:  The meeting of the House of Representatives today unanimously approved a proposal seeking consideration on the Public Security (Third Amendment) Bill 2075. 


Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa had presented the bill in the meeting. Lawmaker Krishna Bhakta Pokhrel had put his views on the bill.

The ministry had proposed to insert Section 3.1(a) in the original act, stating that when a person is put under preventive detention, local authority would have to inform; including one’s situation to family members or close relatives of the person within 24 hours.


The bill had also proposed to amend Section 12 of the original act, stating that in the course of releasing a person held under preventive detention, such person shall be released in front of concerned district court judge or the registrar and if possible family members or close relative of the person under preventive detention.
