Home ministry grants permission to proceed with promotion of APF personnel

KATHMANDU, July 17: Police personnel who have not been promoted for 17 years will be promoted in the Armed Police Force (APF). 

Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHP) has granted permission to proceed with promotions in the APF, citing the impact on career development for the personnel. 

Consequently, all those whose promotion has been stalled in promotion from Inspector to Deputy Superintendent (DSP) for 17 years will now be promoted.

On Sunday, preparations were made for the promotion by publishing notification for promotion from Senior Superintendent of Armed Police to Assistant Constable of Armed Police. "The promotion notification has been published, most of them are promoted," said DSP Shailendra Thapa, joint spokesperson.

According to him, a notification has been published on Sunday for promotion to the posts of Senior Superintendent, Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, Inspector, Senior Deputy Inspector, Deputy Inspector, Assistant Inspector, Senior Constable, Constable, and Assistant Constable.

Similarly, a notification has been published for promotion to the post of Technical Armed Police Deputy Superintendent and Assistant Constable in the field of Communication and Engineering in the Armed Police Service Technical Group. Similarly, on Sunday, 5 people have been recommended for promotion to the post of Deputy Superintendent of Armed Police in the accounting sub-group and 1 person in the post of Deputy Superintendent of Armed Police in the legal sub-group.

On Sunday itself, 198 constables have been recommended for promotion to the post of senior constables. Along with the promotion process, the 7th Armed Police Inspector who joined in 2064 BS will be promoted to the post of Deputy Superintendent of Armed Police.

According to the sources of APF, the processes for a large number of promotions has started at once following the organization’s policy of promotion to vacant posts and after the Prime Minister and the Home Minister were positive about it.

The promotion process, which has been stalled for the past 17 years, has also started, and the largest number of promotions in the armed police force since some years is about to be promoted at once. 

Inspector General of Armed Police Raju Aryal has adopted a policy of not leaving vacant posts since taking over the leadership. About 3000 personnel have been promoted in various ranks in the last one year.

Similarly, more than 3100 people have been posted, 20 people have been given special promotion, around 10,000 personnel have been transferred, 478 personnel have been adjusted and 111 people have been recruited in various ranks.
