High Court orders case files in Rabi Lamichhane’s cooperative fraud case

A joint bench of Chief Judge Ratna Bahadur Bagchand and Judge Milan Kumar Rai issued the order on Sunday to obtain the case files submitted at the Kaski District Court.

POKHARA, May 18: The Pokhara High Court (HC) has asked for the case documents in the cooperative fraud case filed against the former Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.


A joint bench of Chief Judge Ratna Bahadur Bagchand and Judge Milan Kumar Rai issued the order on Sunday to obtain the case files submitted at the Kaski District Court.

Earlier on Friday, Lamichhane’s legal team objected to the hearing moving forward without their knowledge. Following the objection, the bench deferred the petitions to Sunday.


On December 25, the Kaski District Court had released Lamichhane on a court date after he posted a bail of Rs 6.5 million. Both parties appealed this decision at the High Court, Lamichhane sought full release, while the government attorney demanded that he be held in custody.


The hearing on these appeals began on Thursday.
