Earlier, Rasuwa Chief District Officer Narendra Pariyar also stated that the Chinese side had informed him that the lake, formed by the confluence of the Chochen River and the Purepu Tsangpo River in China, had burst.
Nepal Police issued the warning after receiving information that water flow toward the Tibetan side has resumed. It urged security personnel, rescue workers and members of the public in the area to remain highly cautious and alert others to move to safe locations.
“Information has been received that the water flow toward the Tibetan side has resumed. All security personnel, rescue workers and members of the public involved in rescue and relief operations are requested to remain immediately alert and inform others to move to safer locations,” Nepal Police said in its notice.
The development has raised concerns of possible renewed water surges in the border area as rescue and relief operations continue in communities already affected by recent floods and landslides.
