KATHMANDU, April 21: Birendra Lake in the Manaslu region of Gorkha has burst due to an avalanche. The chief district officer of Gorkha, Bhola Dahal, informed Republica that the lake in Chumanubri Rural Municipality burst after a large avalanche fell onto it this morning.
He stated that although the avalanche caused the lake to burst and flood, there was no loss of life.

Dahal noted that there are no settlements near the lake's location, but the surrounding settlements have been advised to remain cautious due to potential risks.
According to Basudev Pathak, Superintendent of Police, District Police Office, a makeshift bridge was swept away by the flood resulting from the lake's burst.
Pathak reassured that there was no cause for alarm as there was no major flooding, but emphasized that nearby settlements should stay alert to the risks.
