KATHMANDU, NOV 5: The hearing on former deputy prime minister and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane’s remand extension has been concluded, and a verdict is underway. Suraj Adhikari, information officer at Kaski District Court, informed Republica that the hearing has been concluded and the verdict will likely be announced within an hour. Judge Chandrakant Paudel's bench is hearing the case.
Earlier on Tuesday, police presented Lamichhane, former managing director of Gorkha Media, at Kaski District Court for remand extension as the one-week detention period expired during the Tihar holidays.

Police are investigating Lamichhane on money laundering, organized crime, and cooperative funds embezzlement charges. He was arrested on October 18. The authorities are preparing to take additional statements from him.
Along with Lamichhane, police have presented former DIG Chhabilal Joshi, a former board member of Gorkha Media who was arrested on September 22 in the cooperative case, at the court for a remand extension.
