KATHMANDU, Nov 9: The hearing on the case of those detained in the fake Bhutanese refugee scam has been rescheduled for November 21.
Patan High Court’s Spokesperson Tirtha Raj Bhattarai said that a joint bench of judges Murari Babu Shrestha and Krishna Ram Koirala has ordered the hearing to be scheduled for November 21.
Among the 18 accused arrested in the fake Bhutanese refugee scam, CPN-UML secretary and former deputy prime minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Nepali Congress leader and former home minister Bal Krishna Khand are in pre-trial detention.
The Kathmandu District Court had ordered the accused to be remanded in custody for the trial. Following the court’s decision, the accused moved the Patan High Court demanding the district court’s decision be overturned. The public prosecutor's office has also filed a petition requesting that individuals released on bail be detained.
