Addressing a press conference in the capital on Thursday, the disabled travelers said although it was extremely challenging for them to cross the pass, they did not give up. “These brave trekkers have shown to the world that nothing can stop them,” the leader of the 12-member expedition, Just J Schilder, said.
The physically challenge trekkers also said they went through no specific training for the trekking. “The most difficult was the 5,267m high Lhakpa la pass. It was a 30 Km long journey which took 10 hours,” Bao said.

They added that they want to motivate all differently-abled people through this one-month long strenuous journey. “The message is loud and clear -- life is to move on,” Schilder said.
Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has said that the success story of the four Dutchmen will help Nepal´s trekking business and the four will now be goodwill ambassadors for Nepal in the Netherlands.
Speaking at the program, Govinda Oli of NTB said, “These four travelers have proved that what matters in life is willpower and their effort will help to bring more keen and enthusiastic Dutch travelers to Nepal.”
The disabled travelers said they will now attempt to trek through the Sahara in Africa and will plan for future treks to Nepal as well.
