KATHMANDU, July 17: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has initiated the process of relocating 50 percent of its employees from its Babarmahal office to their new building in Sinamangal. According to CAAN Spokesperson Jagannath Niraula, the Air Safety Department and National Pride Project Directorate offices, previously located in Babarmahal, are among the first to be moved to the new CAAN building.

"The staff transfer has commenced, and a significant number of employees, including those from engineering, mechanical, regulatory departments, and others, have already been relocated. The corporate department will follow suit once some minor cleaning work is completed. The inauguration of the new building is imminent," stated Spokesperson Niraula.

Out of approximately 500 employees based in Babarmahal, nearly 250 have been relocated to the new Sinamangal building, as reported by the CAAN.

The building in Sinamangal has been constructed on 4 ropanis (approximately 1.6 acres) of the total 17 ropani area at a cost of approximately two billion rupees. The building boasts a spacious basement capable of accommodating about 100 vehicles, with an additional parking capacity for up to 175 vehicles.

As part of CAAN's comprehensive plan, the existing old building at Babarmahal is slated for demolition to make way for a new structure. The initial steps for this project are already underway. The CAAN currently oversees 1,122 employees.
