KATHMANDU, May 12: The construction of the new building of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) in Sinamangal has made 85 percent progress. Information officer of CAAN, Gyanendra Bhul, said that the authority plans to move to the new building within the next two months.
“The construction of the new building is almost over. Furnishing work is underway at present. The rest of the finishing work is also being done," said Bhul. "Employees of all departments will stay in this building, except for service providers."

A-not Architecture and Architect, which designed the building, said that the 11-storey building will have the capacity to accommodate more than 500 employees.
The new building has a parking capacity for 66 cars and 115 motorbikes/scooters on its premises. A total of Rs 1.11 billion has been spent on the building with four elevators.
The construction of this building, which started in 2072 BS, was stopped for three years due to various reasons. This building has been constructed in an area of four ropanis and two annas of land.
“The CAAN is planning to demolish the old building in Babarmahal and build a new one,” Bhul said. He said that a preliminary study for this has been carried out. At present, 1122 employees are working in the authority.
