According to a statement issued by Universal Peace Federation Nepal (UPF Nepal) on Sunday, half the amount -- US$ 500,000 will be given to the Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund while the other half will go to FFWPU-Nepal.
"These funds will be utilized to provide relief and recovery to the earthquake victims," Ek Nath Dhakal, chairman of UPF Nepal, was quoted as saying in the statement.
"Mother Moon [Hak Ja Han Moon] expressed her commiserations to the victims' families and offered her prayers for the speedy recovery of those who were injured. She expressed hope that Nepal would recover quickly from this devastation and rebuild the nation," the statement adds.
UPF Nepal also said that a check was handed over to Prime Minister Sushil Koirala on Sunday jointly
by Moon's Special Emissary to Asia Chung Sik Yong and lawmaker and UPF Nepal chairman Ek Nath Dhakal.
"We clearly remember all the great work of Father [Sun Myung Moon] and Mother Moon to Nepal. For that reason, Nepal has a high regard for Father and Mother Moon. I assure you that all funds will be utilized properly," the statement quoted Prime Minister Koirala as having told Asia Chairman Chung Sik Yong over the phone.
