Gurkha soldier killed in Afghanistan

KATHMANDU, Oct 3: A British soldier from 1st Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles was killed on patrol in Helmand province in Nahr-e-Saraj on Saturday afternoon, bbcnews.com reported.



The Ministry of Defense (MoD) confirmed the death. [break]



The details of the deceased soldier has not been mentioned however the kin has been informed, MoD said.



With the death, the total number of UK service personnel killed in Afghanistan since 2001 reached to 339.
