Gurkha soldier provides community hospital with medical oxygen

KHOTANG, May 24: A Gurkha soldier serving with the British army has donated oxygen cylinders to Jalapa Community Hospital of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadi Municipality in Khotang.

KHOTANG, May 24: A Gurkha soldier serving with the British army has donated oxygen cylinders to Jalapa Community Hospital of Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadi Municipality in Khotang. 


The Gurkha soldier serving with the UK armed forces has been identified as Bikash Sampang Rai, a resident from Kepilasgai Rural Municipality-2 of Khartamcha. He donated two oxygen cylinders of 47 liters each to the community hospital. According to the chairman of Jalapa Community Hospital, Bikash Rai, the British soldier had collected two units of oxygen cylinder while arriving in Kathmandu and sent them to the hospital located in his home village.

The hospital received the donation while the ward office was collecting medical oxygens and antigen kits for patients infected with COVID-19. The oxygen cylinders were delivered to the community hospital in a vehicle from Kathmandu. 


The ward office is also searching for a viral transport medium (VTM) to conduct PCR tests, antigen kits, and medical oxygen. Chairman Rai said the ward is preparing to bring over a thousand antigen kits within a few days.
