Govt to provide additional dose of vaccines to those who have already received their booster dose

KATHMANDU, Dec 26: The government has initiated necessary preparation to give additional doses of COVID-19 vaccines to its citizens who have received booster doses.


According to the Ministry of Health and Population, preparations are being made to give additional doses of vaccines to those who have received booster doses of the vaccine as the risk of infection with COVID-19 have increased again.

Spokesperson at the MoHP Dr. Sanjay Kumar Thakur has requested everyone to take booster doses to prevent the infection from entering Nepal as the new variant of Coronavirus BF-7 is increasing in neighboring countries India and China. According to him, even though the BF-7 variant has not been confirmed in Nepal so far, there is a risk due to open borders and movement as it is increasing in China and India.


It is said that the MoHP is preparing to give additional doses to those who have received a booster dose of the vaccine, giving priority to the elderly, chronically ill and others above the age of 55. According to the MoHP, 1.5 million doses have been ordered for the booster dose given to those who have received two doses and the vaccine will be delivered after two weeks.


Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs has also requested everyone to exercise caution as a new variant of the species called BF-7 found in neighboring countries may enter Nepal due to open borders.


Similarly, 3.7 million quantities of the 9.2 million quantities of vaccines contracted under the Kovacs facility have been brought, and out of the remaining 1.5 million quantities have been brought for booster doses. The ministry has also urged everyone to use mandatory masks, maintain physical distance, wash hands with soapy water or use sanitizer regularly to avoid infection.
