Minister Pokharel called a meeting of high-ranking officials of the MoE on Sunday evening and decided to scrap the affiliation, according to the sources at the ministry.

DAV School of Lalitpur, Rai School of Kathmandu and Himali Institute of Butwal were conducting the NIOS classes. The ministry issued the NIOS affiliation to Rai School about two months ago against the spirit of its own report.

The NIOS curriculum does not include Nepali, English and Science subjects, while the open school education in the country encompasses these subjects.

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), formerly known as National Open School (NOS), was established in November 1989 as an autonomous organization by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
