LUMBINI, Feb 25: The government Saturday concluded the first round of talks with Janantantrik Tarai Madhes Mukti Party(JTMMP), an armed outfit operating in Tarai districts for the last five year, with a six-point agreement.
The peace meeting that lasted for around two hours at a Lumbini-based Hoke Hotel has also agreed to continue second round of talks very soon, spokesperson and Aabadh regional commander of the outfit Shikander Baki aka Babloo Khan informed Republica. [break]
As per the agreement, the outfit has vowed to lay down its arms and weapons in the near future, expressed its commitment to peace and constitution drafting processes while the government has agreed to recognize the outfit as a political party and provide security to the leaders of the outfit, among others.
The government talks team was led by Peace Minister Satya Pahadi while JTMMP vice-chairman Prahlad Mahara aka Tufan Singh lead his five-member talks team of the underground group.
