KATHMANDU, July 11: The government recently made amendments to the Vehicle and Traffic Management Regulations 2054 BS. These regulations have been revised and updated, now known as the Vehicle and Traffic Management Regulations 2080 BS.

The amended regulations have been officially published in the national gazette and will come into force from the date of its publication in the gazette.

One of the key changes made by the government involves the amendment to Rule 6 in the Vehicle and Traffic Management Regulations 2054 BS. This modification aims to address the complications related to the registration transfer process for vehicles.

As per the amended sub-rule 3, the office responsible for deducting the registration fee must maintain a separate record of such vehicles and update the registered vehicle records every three months.

Furthermore, the original Regulation's Rule 18, subsection 1, has been revised to change the recognized capacity of public vehicles from 40 seats to 45 seats. This modification aligns with the updated amendment and allows for the recognition of vehicles with 45 seats as public vehicles.

Additionally, under Clause (a), Sub-clause 4, the specified height of buses has been set at 66 inches. Moreover, Sub-section 7 now mandates the provision of emergency exits with doors, windows, or escape hatches at suitable locations within buses.

According to the amended regulations, passenger vehicles that do not meet the specified standards at the time of the by-law's commencement must comply with the regulations within six months from the date of implementation.
