Govt directive on traffic management in view of inconvenience to general people

KATHMANDU, March 27: The government has directed the Home Ministry for the traffic management in the Kathmandu valley without any compromise in the security in view of the inconvenience caused to the general people during the VVIPs' visit.

Today's meeting of the Council of Ministers held at Singha Durbar issued this directive to the Home Ministry.

Minister for Information and Communications Dr Minendra Rijal said that the meeting also approved the Integrated Action Plan regarding resettlement of the families affected by floods and landslides, occurred in July, in Banke, Bardiya, Dang, Surkhet and Sindhupalchowk and the reconstruction of damaged physical infrastructures.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Sushil Koirala directed the Home Ministry to immediately provide additional relief to the fire victims in different districts including Taplejung and to bring a proposal preparing an integrated action plan for the arrangement of settlement to the displaced families.

Similarly, the government endorsed the proposal of stopping the distribution of relief and compensation to the families of those died and made to disappear in course of the armed conflict after the payment of that amount not exceeding Rs 500,000, thereby ending the relief and compensation distribution phase.

The meeting also decided to retain the patent right of the USA regarding 'Pilotless Aircraft for Commercial and Military Use' of Nepali innovator Ruchit Kumar Regmi and to provide financial support of Rs 1.5 million for its commercialization. --RSS
