KATHMANDU, March: In view of traffic congestion in the Pashupatinath Area due to the Maha Shivaratri celebration, the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) has introduced a new system of traffic management creating diversions in the area for a day on Thursday.

Along with the diversions, the MTPD has also managed parking spots for the devotees visiting Pashupatinath on Thursday.

According to the chief of the division, SSP Janak Bhattarai, the traffic police have created diversions in Chabahil, Gaushala and Tilganga sections of the ring road for uninterrupted vehicular moments in the Pashupatinath area. “The division can also prohibit public vehicles plying the ring road from entering the Pashupatinath area,” he added.

Heavy vehicles entering the Pashupatinath area from Tinkune will be diverted toward Sinamangal while vehicles plying roads in the Jorpati-Narayantar Corridor will be diverted toward Sinamangal Bridge Corridor.

Similarly, vehicles plying the roads on the Jorpati-Bauddha road will be prohibited from passing Chabahil.

Likewise, Bankali ground, Sifal ground, Bhandarkhal and Amalhot areas have been managed as parking areas for the vehicles carrying devotees to the Pashupatinath area.

Also, the MTPD has urged the vehicles plying roads in Chabahil, Gaushala and Tilganga sections of the ring road to take alternative routes unless necessary for a better management of traffic in the Pashupatinath area.
