KATHMANDU, May 18: In the wake of devastating April 25 earthquake, the government on Monday banned construction of new house.

The Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development (MoFALD) directed the municipalities and District Development Offices across the country not to register application for construction of new house until mid-July.

The ministry has stated that the provision will be effective also for application currently under consideration.

Likewise, the ministry has banned construction of houses that have already received approval, but yet to start construction, said joint secretary Reshmaraj Poudel.
