A Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) board meeting today decided to withdraw its June 2 decision to upgrade the capacity of the hydropower project from 60 MW to 90 MW, the NEA said in a press statement after the meeting. [break]
Four trade unions at NEA had been protesting the decision. The NEA has maintained that today´s decision was taken ´to ease supply of electricity to the general public that would otherwise not be possible in the existing situation emerged after the protest.´
