KATHMANDU, Oct 9: The government on Saturday gave its go-ahead to inject an additional capital worth Rs 73 billion in the construction and development of two hydroelectricity projects.
The 48th meeting of the Investment Board Nepal (IBN) led by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba approved an investment of Rs 10.50 billion in the 56MW Jum Khola Hydropower Project. The run-of-river type hydropower project will be constructed by Sanima Hydropower Pvt Ltd. Last July, the company received the license from the sector’s regulator to construct the project in Jum Khola at Lamabagar of Dolakha district.

Similarly, the IBN also permitted the 900MW Arun-III Hydropower Project to increase its capital investment by an additional Rs 62.26 billion. The power project, being developed by Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited, India, is located in Sankhuwasabha district of eastern Nepal.
