Following the incident, NC activists thrashed two Maoist cadres in Ghyampesal. According to DSP Gorakh Singh Bhandari, chief of Gorkha District Police Office, NC cadres attacked Maoist cadres in various parts of the district Sunday morning as well.
On Sunday, police barred arms-wielding Maoist cadres from heading to Ghyampesal area keeping in view with the possible clash with NC cadres. DSP Bhandari said police have given protection to five local Maoist cadres by keeping them in a police post.
Local administration has mobilized Armed Police Force (APF) personnel to contain the possible violence. “There is a situation of clash between the cadres of the two parties across the district,” Bhandari added.
Bhandari said police have received information that armed Maoist cadres have gathered in various parts of the district including Baguwa, Tandrang, Aahale and Masel to take on the NC activists.
Maoists had also attempted to abduct local NC leader Modanath Khanal at Tandrang VDC on Saturday night. Khanal said Maoists have threatened him with life. A group of masked Maoist cadres wielding iron rods had reached Khanal´s home, but their abduction plan was thwarted after the neighbors and family members intervened.
