Eight people, including a polling officer, injured in clashes at two polling stations in Humla

KATHMANDU, May 13: Clashes erupted at two polling stations in Humla on Friday. Eight people, including a polling official, were injured in the clashes.


According to the Provincial Police Office, Polling Officer Krishna Prasad Acharya and his aide Kawa Rokaya were injured in the clash that took place at Mahadev Secondary School at Chakheli Rural Municipality-2. Preparations are underway to bring the injured to Surkhet by helicopter for further treatment. Police fired eight rounds of bullets to control the crowd, said Provincial Police Chief Rajesh Nath Bastola.

A similar clash occurred at Adanchuli in Humla. Police fired five rounds of aerial shots to take the situation under control after a clash erupted at Adanchuli-4 Kukurfalna Hydropower Project polling station. Details of the injured are yet to come.
