Gorkha Boys set up title clash with Knight Chess

KATHMANDU, Jan 20: Gorkha Boys Club, Rupandehi recorded a 3-1 victory over Pokhara XI, Pokhara on Wednesday to set up the title clash with Knight Chess Club, Jhapa in the ongoing Workers Martyrs Memorial Cup Knockout Football Tournament held at the Dasharath Stadium.



On Tuesday, Knight Chess had defeated the hosts Workers Martyrs Memorial Club 3-1 in the first semifinal. [break]



Gorkha Boys took the lead in the 15th minute through Nirajan Rayamajhi in the competitive match. But Bishan Gauchan canceled the lead in the 33rd minute. No other goals were possible in the first half.



Gorkha Boys came up with aggressive show in the second half and added two other goals in their account. Ganesh Khadka netted in the 60th minute to pile up more pressure on Pokhara. Likewise, Umesh Uprety added another to seal the victory in the 75th minute.



Surendra Tamang of the winning side was declared man-of-the-match.







The winner and the runner-up teams will bag a cash prize of Rs 200,000 and Rs 100,000 respectively.



The final will be held on Thursday at the Dasharath Stadium at 13:30 NST.
