We believe this Summit will help Nepal brand itself as a peaceful venue for big international gatherings

A number of heads of states and governments are in Kathmandu for an important conference. Cambodian Prime Minister, the vice president of Republic of the Philippines, and Myanmar’s state counselor Aung San Suu Kyi are participating in the Asia Pacific Summit 2018. Moreover, speakers of the house, members of parliament and other high ranking officials from around the world are here.

The Asia Pacific Summit 2018 will be an important even to boost Nepal’s tourism for it will generate goodwill around the world. The Summit is happening at a time when the world is divided and countries are waging wars. The theme of the Summit is mutual prosperity and universal common values that we all hold dearly. If Nepal can be the place to extend harmony and goodwill investors will want to invest here.

Sustainable peace can only be realized when we bring together the government, private sector and civil society and this is the only way to tackle pressing global issues from climate change to poverty. The Summit in Kathmandu will only reaffirm the existing global cooperation on peace, development, good governance, climate change, marriage and family. Moreover, the role of youth and faith-based organizations in building a prosperous nation will also be discussed in the Summit.

One of the challenges of our time is the need for strengthening institution of family and marriage—which is one of the highlights of the Summit. Civil society leaders have been invited to this program to celebrate family and peace. We strongly believe that marriage and family are important step to build a prosperous and peaceful nation.

We are also bringing together important religious leaders from different faith groups to take responsibility for the moral values of the millennial, and to their homeland. The role of a host nation, the land of Lord Buddha, is based on the culture of heart and serving others joyfully.

More than 105 international delegates from more than 40 Asian countries are participating in this mega event. More than 30 current and former heads of state from Asia and beyond, business people and investors are actively taking part. We are absolutely confident that this Summit will also help Nepal brand itself as a neutral and peaceful venue for big international gatherings. Our tradition has been that we welcome guests with open heart and smile. Let us all do that this week in Kathmandu.
