Golden Gate won all four quarters of the match but with close margins. The first quarter was a close shave for Golden Gate as they defeated Trinity 27-25. The second quarter was also competitive but Trinity lagged behind by four points as Golden Gate edged past them 26-22. Golden Gate were ahead of their opponents just by three points in the third quarter as they won over Trinity 27-25 while the defending champions sealed the match 24-20 in the last quarter.
Sushil Gurung scored the highest 35 points for Golden Gate while Trinity´s Gajendra Karki finished with 28 points, including six three pointers. Sushil was declared the highest scorer of the tournament while Wisdom Pandey of Trinity was adjudged most valuable player.
Chief Guest Ameet Dhakal , the editor-in-chief of Republica, distributed medals and certificates to the winners.
The tournament was held in memory of the late Fr Eugene L Watrin who dedicated his life for education in Nepal since 1958. The tournament was also a youth empowerment program of Godavari Alumni Association (GAA), according to Prakash Shrestha, acting CEO of GAA.
