KATHMANDU, July 20: The weight of gold smuggled through Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) was found to be 155 kg including the brake shoe.
According to Thaneshwar Acharya, Head of Mint Division, the weight of the brake shoe of the scooter containing gold seized by the Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI) is 155 kg.

The gold seized from the airport was taken to the Mint Division at Babarmahal on Thursday afternoon from DRI.
DRI recovered the gold that was hidden in the brakes after it had passed the TIA customs from Sinamangal in Kathmandu. The DRI estimates that there is 80 to 100 kg of gold in those brakes. The actual weight of gold will be known only after Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) weighs the gold.
