1.55 kg gold concealed by passenger in rectum seized at TIA

KATHMANDU, Feb 3: Police have arrested three persons from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) along with 1.155 kilograms of gold and four mobile phones.


Dawa Chhiring Sherpa, who arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday on an Air Arabia flight, was found hiding a cylinder made of 1 kg 55 grams of gold inside the rectum.

Among the arrested for bringing 50 grams of gold are Sunil Kumar Shah of Rautahat and Nawaraj Pariyar of Makwanpur. They came to Kathmandu from a Himalaya Airlines flight. Police have recovered four Iphone 13 Pro Max, 50 gram gold rings and chains from Sunil Kumar Shah and have been handed over to the Tribhuvan Airport Customs Office. An iPhone 13 Pro Max and two 50 gram gold rings have been recovered from Pariyar.


As the passengers seemed suspicious, they were taken under control from the arrival tunnel gate of Tribhuvan International Airport.


They have been handed over to Tribhuvan Airport Customs Office, for necessary investigation and action, according to the TIA Security Office.
