The Child Health Division (CHD) under the ministry says that the vaccination drive will help prevent blindness, deafness, heart disorders and infant deaths.
Every year more than 1,400 children are born with disabilities due to congenital rubella syndrome.
The campaign will be conducted in 15 districts in the first phase, where children of nine districts of far-western region and six districts of mid-western region will be administered the vaccine. Children under five years will also get polio drops during the campaign.
The UNICEF, World Health Organization and other donor agencies have provided assistance for the campaign.
