After receiving a guard of honour by the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards, Gen. Gurung laid a wreath at the Gurkha Memorial, acknowledging the sacrifice made by Gurkha soldiers since they joined the British Army 200 years ago. [break]
During a briefing by Gen. Wall, he learnt about the efforts being made to reshape and equip the British forces to meet the challenges of the future as well as the lessons being learnt from the ongoing war in Afghanistan, said a press release issued by the Kathmandu-based British Embassy.
Later, during an office call with Gen. Wall, he discussed matters of mutual concern, including the lessons that the Nepal Army can learn from the re-structuring of the British Forces, the statement said.
On human rights, the release said that Gen. Wall acknowledged that British forces learnt lessons in Iraq which he would be pleased to share with the Nepal Army.
