‘If you don’t ask, answer will be always no.’
‘If you don’t go forward, you are always in the same place.’These words exactly contemplate the current issues related with the marriage of unisex people. It’s really fair for them to raise their voice demanding their right .We all know that Gay marriage is just not a theoretical issue for now as Canada has it.USA is fighting for it .Despite of this fact ,I am totally disagreed with legalizing gay marriage in the current Nepalese Scenario.
Marriage: It is very difficult to define marriage from one single sense. It’s not a single institution with one definition. It’s just not a contract or a social condition .It is considered as a combination of different sexual structures form a new entity. It is just not a formality to express romantic love but represent idea-a construction-a truth .On top of that, it is a key element for survival and continuation of human race for common good. Yes, of course, these factors represent marriage; a sole and spiritual connection (male & female) .Isn’t it difficult to devaluate the institution of marriage being continued for 1000 years? My intention is not to disrespect the needs of same sex people. But a reality is always a reality. Can a Government redefine the meaning of marriage?
Another important question is that as gay or same sex people cannot produce children through natural procreations, will adopted children not be deprived of motherhood or fatherhood? Can a child learn various ethical aspects in the lap of same sex parents? Who can guarantee? Being realistic, rejecting a gay marriage amounts to a lesser hurt then approving would impose an majority, especially children, the weakest part of the society. Has everyone ever thought about it?
Yes, of course, Government should respect the civic life and need of citizens; as unisex people are also the citizens of the country, but it doesn’t mean legalizing will guarantee the security of these people. Does approval ensure security? Of course not, I guess. Nepal is still in condition to move, condition to groom and develop a broad mentality. In this modern era, still many parts of the country is facing problem of education, an innocent is tormented and killed accusing a witch, a boy acid attacks in the name of caste .When the society is so much backward and traditional ,how can unisex people live freely???? Nepal still needs to switch to next levels to legalize gay marriage.
In conclusion, I end my perception by saying that Nepal should think about Legalizing gay marriage after (10-15) years, when the society will be a little bit farther from now .When the identity of homosexuals will be similar as we heterosexuals, so, up to then let them be included in all the benefits as other citizens get, and let everyone portray that “We all are equal , We all are free and We all are responsible Nepalese Citizens.”
