In the first phase, 30,000 cards are being distributed through 130 gas dealers operating in Kathmandu, said Gyaneswor Aryal, general secretary of the federation, who started the campaign by handing over a card to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
The federation plans to distribute a total of 100,000 cards in a month, and extend the program to Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts.
Talking to myrepbulica.com, Aryal said the LP Gas Consumer Card consists of fields wherein the details of consumers, firm and dealers supplying the gas will be filled.
“That will help us ascertain the actual consumption trend by the household consumers, and prevent consumers from anomalies like quantity theft, supply of substandard cylinders and artificial shortage,” said Aryal. The card will be handed over to consumers and a copy of it will be retained by the federation for developing database.
Some 20 companies supplying their products in the Kathmandu Valley have welcomed the dealers move.
