According to the Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection, officials recovered 6,377 gas cylinders filled with cooking gas from Shree Ram Gas Bhandaran in Harisiddhi, Lalitpur. Action was taken against the gas depot for stockpiling a large number of cooking gas cylinders at a time of ongoing shortage.
Following the Middle East crisis, demand for cooking gas has surged sharply, forcing consumers to wait for weeks to obtain a cylinder of liquefied petroleum gas. The government has implemented a rationing measure asking bottlers to sell only half-filled cylinders.
